Faculty
New Horizon Elementary School has highly qualified and competent teachers to ensure high academic standards. All teachers are experienced and hold full academic degrees. All school employees go through a Department of Justice screening process and fingerprinting to assure the safety and integrity of our campus.
Student Placement and Ratio of Teachers to Students
Research has confirmed that one of the most significant factors in providing a quality learning environment for children in a group setting is the number of educated staff available with whom the children can interact. Not only do more staff provide better supervision and care, but also a greater variety of personalities so that the children will find a "special someone" to bond with. The high ratio of adults to children encourages the best in teacher competencies. Each of our teachers bring energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to the program. Supervision in our preschool program is one (1) teacher to eight (8) students. We do our best to keep the maximum class size for our elementary school at 16 students per class for K-3rd grade and at 20 students per class for 4th and 6th grade. Each student shall be placed in a group of peers based on age or grade level and/or special needs as determined by the staff.
Staff Meetings and Staff Development
To assure a quality program, staff members need to have an adequate opportunity to plan, coordinate, and evaluate program goals and activities. To facilitate our operation, we conduct staff meetings and staff development for all teachers throughout the school year.
Staff development is the key to a quality school. Our on-going training programs include?:
- Annual orientation and Islamic sensitivity training
- Workshops & In-service seminars throughout the year
- Continued Education through institutes of higher learning.
These training programs are designed to meet the instructional needs of the teachers to better support student learning.
